An event next month in Troy is targeting students hoping to leverage their gaming abilities into college fees.
The AoE esports scholarship program invites students to join them from 5-7 p.m. on Jan. 19 at Troy College and Career High School, based at 1522, E Big Beaver Road.
Several universities will be represented at the event, including well-known institutions such as the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Oakland University, Lawrence Tech University, Central Michigan University, Cleary University and Rochester University.
This will be AoE’s inaugural event of this kind, as they are the official eSports operator for Troy schools.
According to AoE co-founder, Harry Greenspan, the event intends to act as a bridge for players, demonstrating the many opportunities available to them. Greenspan notes that the options are limitless.
The AoE organization currently provides a range of esports camps, tournaments and leagues for students of all ages.
During the event, students will interact and gain firsthand understanding about the variety and number of esports scholarships available as well as the criteria for eligibility.
Greenspan went on to explain that coaches would be present to inform students about what’s on offer and what they could achieve. Parents can also engage in open discussions to learn more about the opportunities for their children.
Around 1,000 colleges across the U.S. offer esports scholarships, making the event a highly valuable resource for information about these scholarships.
Greenspan highlighted the organization’s future plans to organize combine-type events where students can showcase their skills to coaches as well as helping students to create recruiting videos when applying to colleges and universities.
As the event has limited capacity, only the first 200 people who register online will be permitted to attend.
