It’s an April 20 date in Brooklyn for Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia

WHILE many had expected the April 20 fight between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia to land in Las Vegas, as is often the case with big fights these days, the two super-lightweights will instead convene in Brooklyn, New York on that date.

This was officially confirmed by promoter Oscar De La Hoya, who tweeted late last night: “@RealDevinHaney vs @RyanGarcia will be live on @DAZNBoxing from @barclayscenter promoted by @GoldenBoy Boxing 4/20/24.”

At stake at the Barclay’s Center will be Haney’s WBC super-lightweight belt, which Haney will defend for the first time against Garcia having thrashed Regis Prograis to win it back in December. For Garcia, meanwhile, this fight on April 20 represents his first stab at major honours in the 140-pound division, with him previously making his name, and indeed winning “junior” titles, as a lightweight.

Garcia is currently 24-1 (20) as a pro, whereas Haney, who starts the fight as favourite, sits at 31-0 (15).
