Dubai Police launches special edition of Esports tournament during UAE SWAT Challenge

In Dubai, the Dubai Police have declared the initiation of a unique edition of their renowned Esports Tournament. The competition goes hand in hand with the UAE SWAT Challenge, happening at the Al Ruwayyah Training Facility from the 3rd to the 7th of February.

The Deputy Director of Cyber Investigation at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, Major Abdullah Al Shehi, stressed the UAE SWAT Challenge and the Esports Tournament’s purpose. They are to promote the global objectives of the tournament and gather a significant community of spectators from various backgrounds, cheering for their respective tactical teams.

Major Al Shehi further conveyed that the conduct of Esports tournaments has the potential of raising awareness among the masses, focusing on the youth, with regards to certain key issues.

These crucial issues are, precautions while interacting with unknown individuals in chat rooms, understanding about digital financial transactions, and the importance of not revealing personal or banking information to avoid cyber fraud or blackmailing.

Dubai Police’s initiative backs their strategic plan to escalate security and safety in the city.

The General Coordinator of the Esports Tournament, Lieutenant Saeed Adel Al Suwaidi, stated that the tournament would include 40 participants divided into eight teams. These teams contain six men’s and two women’s teams.

On the first day, four teams will participate in the game Counter-Strike 2, and the remaining four will compete in Valorant on day two. The matches will happen on the 3rd and 4th of February as part of the UAE SWAT Challenge in the main tent. Winners will receive Dh15,000, with the second placers receiving Dh10,000. The total prize money up for grabs stands at Dh50,000.
