The Perfect Blend and Shadow Agent.
Two new characters, Raven and the Peruvian new entrant Azucena, have been introduced to the Tekken 8 roster by Bandai Namco.
At Evo 2023, Katsuhiro Harada, the Tekken Project Director, and Michael Murray, the Producer, made memorable appearances.
Even though Bandai Namco’s EU website had seemingly leaked the characters, their official revelation still managed to surprise and impress the Evo audience.
Tekken 8 witnesses the return of Raven
Debuting in Tekken 5, Raven was a secret agent under the United Nations. He reappeared in Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 but was later replaced by Master Raven in Tekken 7.
Raven has been loved for his exquisite design, easy-going attitude, and compares to Blade, as fans state, the character played by Wesley Snipes. Raven uses an advanced Ninjutsu fighting style, including shadow clones, for extraordinary close-combat.
Azucena, Tekken’s first Peruvian combatant
Nicknamed the “Coffee Queen,” Azucena, the Ortiz Farm’s sole heiress, a Peruvian coffee plantation, is not just a coffee expert but a capable fighter as well.
Her unique combat style includes MMA-inspired maneuvers and the Libertador stance designed to challenge opponents. This stance eliminates the ability to block but enhances her aptitude to dodge both high and low attacks seamlessly; throwing off opponent’s momentum.
In addition, the trailers also showcased the game’s new stages with destruction effects, where the fight scene shifts to another arena following a wall or floor break.
