Road Warriors (9-2-1):  The Hokies have gone undefeated on the road this season having won five away matches with three shutouts. In those five games, the Hokies managed to outscore their opponents 15-4, including shutouts against Old Dominion, N.C. State, and Wake Forest. After defeating North Carolina at home on Sunday 2-1, Tech is looking for its fourth straight ACC victory.

• Miami Hurricanes (3-5-2): Miami continues to struggle throughout the season after recording their fifth straight loss on Saturday versus Florida State (1-0). Although Miami is 0-4 in the ACC, goalkeeper Melissa Dagenis leads the ACC in total saves with 50 saves in the season. The Hurricanes have also struggled to make shot attempts this season trailing the conference in last place with 56 shots and six goals. The Hokies have scored 29 goals with 210 overall shots this season.

• Familiar Foe:  Virginia Tech has faced Miami 21 times in their 21-year history. The Hokies lead the all-time series going 8-1-1 in their last 10 matchups with a four-game win streak. Virginia Tech last took down the Hurricane at Thompson Field in 2021 with a 5-0 shutout.

Key Players: Tori Powell was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Powell scored her fifth career-winning goal on Sunday versus North Carolina (2-1) in the 85th minute of the match leading the Hokies to their third straight conference win. Taylor Price earned recognition by College Sports News earlier this week naming her to the Women’s National Team of the Week list. Price has scored six goals this season, including the winning shot versus then-ranked No. 22 NC State (1-0).

Freshman Natalie Mitchell continues to find her shots in every match this season leading the team with 42 shots in 12 games. Mitchell also knows how to set up her teammates with a goal, assisting in seven of the Hokies’ 29 goals.  Goalkeeper Lauren Hargrove blocked two shots on goal versus the Tar Heels helping the Hokies secure the win.  Hargrove has recorded five clean sheets with 32 saves this season ranking her seventh in the ACC with an overall save percentage of .762. Hargrove is also ranked third in the conference with five shutouts.  For the Hurricanes, Dagenias has been a vital member of the team saving 50 of 61 shots. Miami has a 56-145 shot deficit against past rivals, compared to the Hokies shot advantage  of 210-105. Despite the strength of Miami’s goalkeeper, the team has not been able to find the back of the net against their opponents scoring only six goals this season.
