In Phasmophobia, players have seven distinct Cursed Possessions at their disposal, each offering significant advantages as well as drawbacks. The Voodoo Doll, known for its unpredictability, is one such item that many players may find challenging to exploit effectively.
This guide provides a walkthrough on successfully utilizing the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia.
What purpose does the Voodoo Doll serve in Phasmophobia?
The Voodoo Doll is an item that players can interact with to instigate a random interaction by the ghost. Possibilities for this interaction range from making the ghost write in the ghost book, compelling the ghost to toss an item, or leading the ghost to leave fingerprints on a nearby object.
The kind of interaction initiated by the Voodoo Doll can provide invaluable assistance when gathering evidence, especially when the ghost isn’t cooperating with your equipment. That said, like all Cursed Objects, the Voodoo Doll has its disadvantages.

Using the Voodoo Doll results in a 5% sanity drop per interaction for players. Moreover, if players insert the pin into the Voodoo Doll’s heart, they lose 10% sanity and kickstart a cursed hunt instantly.
What’s the method to use the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia?
Players wishing to use the Voodoo Doll must first pick it up and have it in their possession. As with most Cursed Objects, the game doesn’t permit players to carry it unless it’s the selected item. Shifting to another piece of equipment will cause this item to fall.
Once the Voodoo Doll is in your control, clicking the interaction button (default – the right-click button) will result in a random pin puncturing the Voodoo Doll. Each interaction click randomly picks one out of 10 pins on the Voodoo Doll and triggers a random action by the ghost.
Because the player doesn’t have control over the action the ghost will exhibit when provoked by the Voodoo Doll, it’s a tool of both utility and unpredictability. The sanity dip it causes is relatively lesser than some other Cursed Possessions like the Ouija Board. However, the lack of precision means players may use all pins without getting what they need.
