Esports org drops CSGO player two days after signing over allegations of racism

E-sports group GamerLegion has revealed that they are separating from Chloe ‘⁠KittyTM⁠’ Geaney, known as the women’s CS:GO team, GL Prism, just a couple of days after the announcement of the team on social media.

GamerLegion, the German esports company which has recently gained attention due to its second-place standing at the BLAST Paris Major, has stirred controversy with the recent composition of a new women’s CS:GO team.

The group revealed the new team on September 23rd, and terminated one of its players merely two days after.

In the public announcement pertaining to KittyTM’s separation, the organization emphasized its dedication to diversity.

The statement reads: “We vehemently reject discriminatory remarks and behavior, as such actions not only hurt individuals, but also damage the competitive spirit that esports epitomize. Thus, separation with KittyTM was the only viable outcome and is of immediate effect. We sincerely regret any harm that may have been caused by certain remarks, and we pledge to learn from this incident and continue our work to foster diversity and inclusion in esports.”

Player Separation Due to Racism Allegations

This public announcement came in response to several alleged screenshots ⁠of KittyTM using racial slurs that were shared on social media immediately after the first team announcement by the organization.

KittyTM has not yet given any statements regarding her supposed messages and her exit from the team on her personal social media platforms.

GamerLegion declared the signing of KittyTM and the remaining members of the Let Her Cook group while they were already participating in the ESL Impact season. This league is a women-only CS:GO competition that hosts some of the leading European teams including NAVI Javelins, G2 Oya, Guild, and Nigma Galaxy.

This league acts as a feeder for a LAN tournament featuring some of the best teams from Europe, North America, South America, and Asia.

With KittyTM’s departure, GL Prism is now reduced to a four-player team and will need to find a stand-in for their game against NAVI Javelins on September 27th.
