Espanyol vs Valencia Prediction: La Liga Match on 01.10.2022

There will be a big home fixture in La Liga after the international break for Espanyol on Saturday. The home side has won just once this season, and currently sits above the drop zone on goal difference. Valencia will be the visitors, as they look for a second straight victory.

La Liga Preview

It has been a rocky start to the season for Espanyol, as they could face another fight to stay in La Liga this term. They have picked up just four points from the six games that they have played so far this season, and they could drop into the relegation places with a defeat this weekend.

Espanyol has been far too easy to beat in recent months, as they have lost four of their previous five fixtures. They also come into this match after suffering defeats in each of their previous two games. So far, they have allowed a total of 12 goals in the league, which is an average of two per game. However, they at least have quality in the final third, as they have scored seven goals in La Liga this term.

Valencia will be the visitors this weekend, as they look to maintain their recent solid form over the past couple of weeks. The Spanish giants could move into the European places with victory this weekend, as they have won two of their previous three fixtures in the Spanish top-flight.

Their latest success was a very eye-catching display against Celta Vigo before the international break. Samu Castillejo opened the scoring after 37 minutes, before goals in the final ten minutes of the match were added by Marcos Andre and Andre Almeida.

Espanyol vs Valencia Head to Head

Valencia is winless in their previous two league fixtures against Espanyol, with the latest meeting ending in a 1-1 draw in May. Espanyol won the previous meeting between the sides last term, as they claimed a famous 2-1 success at the Mestalla, which was their first win in La Liga at the ground in over 30 years.

Espanyol vs Valencia Prediction

It has been a hard start to the new season for Espanyol, and we can’t see things getting any easier for them this weekend. I would expect Valencia to pick up maximum points on the road, and the victory could be achieved with a comfortable scoreline of 2-0.
