“Agreement reached” for Fabio Wardley-Frazer Clarke British title rematch

One of the most exciting fights of 2024 is set to be revisited.

In the latest British Boxing Board of Control Circular, it was announced that British heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley will defend his title for the second time against Frazer Clarke.

The official statement stated: “Following an agreement by both parties, the above match will be promoted on a date and venue to be announced.”

In March, Wardley successfully retained his title with a split draw. The scorecards showed 114-113 (Wardley), 113-113, and 112-115 (Clarke). A rematch will mark Wardley’s second official title defense after winning the title in October 2023 by defeating David Adeleye.

Clarke put up a tough fight against Wardley, getting knocked down in round five. He also had a point deducted for low blows in the seventh round. Despite the outcome, it was an intense British title bout that kept fans at the O2 Arena on the edge of their seats.

News of a rematch will surely excite boxing fans.

In other British title news, Harry Scarff will defend his welterweight championship against Liam Taylor. The fight will be promoted by Nisse Sauerland and aired live on Channel 5. Scarff won the title in November 2023 but lost to Karen Chukhadzhian in a world title eliminator.

The vacant British super-lightweight title will be contested by Henry Turner and Jack Rafferty on October 5 at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena. Previous champion Dalton Smith moved on to the European and World scene after defending the title three times.

At super-flyweight, Marcel Braithwaite will defend his British title against Brandon Daord. Daord previously won the English title by defeating Benn Norman.

Jay Harris will defend his British and European flyweight titles against Conner Kelsall on a Queensberry Promotions card in the future. Harris, a former world title challenger, has been a standout fighter in the UK.
