Apex players call for Respawn to delete ‘abnormal’ movement tricks

Apex Legends gamers are getting weary of movement cheats that ruin the gameplay balance and are appealing to the creators to either eliminate the tricks or ban players who exploit them.

On August 28, in a Reddit post, a Apex fan expressed frustration about the egregious nature of some movement strategies and pointed out that these maneuvers negatively impact the game by amplifying the already steep learning curve.

The fan further elaborated on certain movement tricks like neo strafing, explaining that they could only be executed using config files, essentially scripts allowing for superhuman input precision.

Some fans acknowledged their awareness of the challenges posed by config files in Apex and confessed that this has deterred them from playing the game.

One gamer also mentioned TTK (an abbreviation for time to kill). Apex sets itself apart in this aspect from many shooter games, given its comparatively lengthy TTK compared to titles such as VALORANT and Counter-Strike. One gamer sarcastically commented, “If I want to die instantly, I can go play Valo[rant]”.

Yet another player voiced their wish for these movement strategies, barring their removal, to be available to all players without the requirement for macros or config files. This would level the playing field and distinguish skilled players based on their use of these techniques.

One player criticized the developers’ unwillingness to abolish these strategies. Although Respawn promised to remove tap-strafing in 2021, the promise remains unfulfilled.

Whether Respawn will step up and address the players’ concerns is yet to be seen.
