Wolves and Nottingham Forest come into this round of Premier League fixtures sitting in the bottom three of the standings. A victory for either side this weekend will lift them out of the relegation places, but both will only be looking for a second league victory of the season.
Premier League Preview
Wolves are still searching for their new manager after relieving Bruno Lage of his responsibilities a few weeks ago. Things didn’t improve in their previous fixture, as they were well beaten on the road by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Blues were easy 3-0 winners in that fixture, as Wolves once again showed very little cutting edge in the final third.
The team from the Midlands are the lowest scorers in the Premier League this term, as they have scored just three times in nine league fixtures. Defensively, they look slightly better, as they have allowed just 12 goals, which is the best defensive record of any side in the bottom three. However, this is a huge fixture for the manageress side, as they have been beaten in each of their previous three Premier League fixtures.
Nottingham Forest were able to move off the bottom of the league standings in the previous round of fixtures, as they picked up a 1-1 draw at home against Aston Villa. Forest were good value for the lead inside the opening 15 minutes, with Emmanuel Dennis opening the scoring. However, they held their advantage for just seven minutes before the Villa equalised.
Forest has now failed to win since their opening home league fixture of the season, and they have lost five of their previous six fixtures. Something will need to chance if they are to claw themselves out of the relegation places this weekend.
Wolves vs Nottingham Forest Head to Head
Wolves has a good record in fixtures against Forest, as they have lost just once in the previous seven league fixtures between the sides. The latest meeting between the sides came back in January 2018, with Wolves picking up a 2-0 win. However, Forest has picked up three wins from their previous five away league fixtures against Wolves.
Wolves vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
This looks set to be a cagey fixture in the Black Country this weekend, and we expect an extremely low scoring match. Under 2.5 goals looks to have a good chance based on the scoring records of both, but we could see Wolves picking up a vital three points with a 1-0 win.
