Vito Mielnicki Jr vs. Roland Cruz added to Canelo-Munguia card on May 4

NEW JERSEY super-welterweight prospect Vito Mielnicki Jr, with a record of 17-1 (12), is set to make his return to the ring in 2024 at a special event.

The 21-year-old will face off against 32-year-old Ronald Cruz, who holds a record of 19-3-1 (12), on the undercard of the Canelo Alvarez-Jaime Munguia fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 4 (Cinco De Mayo).

Cruz secured a seven-round points victory in El Salvador in December 2023, breaking a streak of three winless fights. One of his losses was against Puerto Rican boxer Xander Zayas in June 2023.

Despite this being Mielnicki’s first fight in 2024, he is no stranger to fighting in Las Vegas, having previously appeared on cards like Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury 2 and Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia. Premier Boxing Champions have shown confidence in the 6ft tall fighter who is still improving with each fight.

Mielnicki, also known as ‘White Magic’, has been on a nine-fight winning streak since his defeat in April 2021 against James Martin. Trained by Ronnie Shields in Houston, Mielnicki has the support of PBC and currently sits at number seven in the WBA rankings.

The super-welterweight division has been a hot topic in recent times, especially with the upcoming fight between WBA champion Israil Madrimov and pound-for-pound king Terence Crawford. Meanwhile, Tim Tszyu will face unbeaten Vergil Ortiz Jr in a highly anticipated showdown at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

Although Mielnicki has a long journey ahead before facing top fighters like Madrimov and Crawford, his victories on big fight nights will only boost his career in the right direction.
