Vera to stand in for Fancy United Esports at AfreecaTV VALORANT League

Rodman “Vera” Yap is set to replace Phan “Gin” Văn Gin as a stand-in for Fancy United Esports in the AfreecaTV VALORANT League.

SOUTH KOREA – It has been disclosed that ex-X10 Esports player, Rodman “Vera” Yap, will represent Fancy United Esports as a stand-in, replacing Phan “Gin” Văn Gin who faced issues in getting a visa for the AfreecaTV VALORANT League.

This swift change represents a serious challenge for the team from Vietnam, who will now need to adjust to playing with Vera as they face groups included Team Liquid, T1, and Edward Gaming.

The vacancy arose after Gin’s failed attempts at securing a South Korean visa, which has forced him to miss out on the event. This temporary loss puts Fancy United Esports in a difficult position as Gin was one of their top performers, playing a significant role in their VN Qualifier win. The team has been aiming to reclaim their top performance following Nguyễn “Nizzy” Tấn Thành’s retirement.

Regardless, the inclusion of Rodman “Vera” Yap in the team brings new hope and an interesting dynamic to the team. He is esteemed as one of the top upcoming players in the MY/SG region. The AfreecaTV VALORANT League marks his first major debut event after having spent his entire career in MY/SG rosters, the most prominent of which include No Namers and X10 Esports.

Since X10 Esports relinquished their Singaporean roster in June, despite the roster’s substantial success in the season, Vera had been searching for a new team. He had remarkable success in his career, winning the 32nd Southeast Asian Games representing Team Singapore. Post his tenure with X10, he’s experienced instability in securing a stable team, oscillating between local rosters such as the now-dissolved Kizuna Esports team in the 2023 Asia Esports Festival, and with Louvre in the 2024 Predator League Singapore.

This event presents an excellent chance for Vera to showcase his skills against international competition, in hopes of boosting his career, where he and Fancy United Esports are set to compete against Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen’s Team Liquid in the first round and a possible face-off against T1 or EDward Gaming in the subsequent round.

The lineup of Fancy United for the AfreecaTV VALORANT League is as follows:

  • Đinh “YESicaN” Đình Đạt
  • Hoàng “f1cio” Ngọc Sơn
  • Nguyễn “Suka” Văn Tiến
  • Lư “Crus” Huy
  • Rodman “Vera” Yap
  • Phan “Kawa” Anh Huy (Coach)
