USC Warriors open Cesafi Esports League campaign with 3 dominating wins on Saturday

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) Lahug campus, the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors made an impressive start in Season 2 of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) Esports League (CEL), winning all their matches. 

After finishing as runners-up in the previous season’s inaugural season, the Warriors emerged victorious over the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters with a score of 2-0 in the Mobile Legends Bang Bang game. 

In their second match, they scored yet another 2-0 victory against the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons.

Their successful day concluded with a 2-0 win against CEL reigning champions and rivals, the UC Lapu-Lapu Mandaue (UCLM) Webmasters. 

Shin Maverick “Shin” Formaran led USC to victory in two of their games, recording 5.5 kills and 4.5 assists against UC, and three kills with 7.5 assists against UCLM. 

An extraordinary performance was put forth by his teammate against CEC, averaging eight kills and 8.5 assists. 

In spite of their defeat against USC, ULCM Webmasters, UC Webmasters, and CEC all managed win on Saturday. 

With 11 kills and nine assists, UCLM’s Captain Lei “Lai” Bacarro led them to victory over UC. Meanwhile, Patrick Errol “Eros” Ortilano of UC ensured a 2-0 win against CEC, recording eight kills and 8.5 assists. 

Dominic “Domsqwee” Rabago spearheaded CEC’s solo victory with 5.5 kills and 3.5 assists, defeating UCLM by 2-0. / DCB
