ROCHESTER, Mich – There’s big news coming from Oakland University Athletics and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan, with an announcement that a partnership deal has been sealed. This agreement places ‘Milk Means More’ as the official sponsor of Oakland University Esports. This is not all – the collaboration entails additional ventures that aim to inform the OU students about the nutritional value of dairy products.
Steve Waterfield, Head of Athletics in Oakland, expressed his enthusiasm over UDIM’s support for Esports, noting the importance of proper nutrition in achieving success within competitive Esports as well as other varsity sports in OU.
United Dairy Industry of Michigan will have their brand displayed on the sleeve of Golden Grizzlies competitors, announced during events, featured in branded social media posts, and similar opportunities as the official sponsor of Oakland University Esports.
Oakland Esports Head Coach Carl Leone stated the appreciation and support from UDIM and how the players enjoyed taking chocolate milk before their games.
On top of becoming Esports’ official sponsor, milk will be given out during at least two events per year, with the Esports team additionally receiving a comprehensive talk from UDIM about optimal performance fueling. The team also gets to visit a Michigan farm for a photo and video shoot.
The Vice President of Marketing and Communications at UDIM, Sarah Woodside, emphasised the nutritional benefits of chocolate milk for athletes and expressed excitement about their partnership with OU’s Esports team.
The 2022-23 spring season saw great victory for Oakland’s Super Smash Bros. and Rocket League teams within their respective NACE Varsity Premier Star League events.
