The new season of Runeterra Reforged for Teamfight Tactics Set Nine kicked off last week, featuring a fierce competition among 128 players in the Freljord Cup, which took place from July 15 to 16. The competition concluded with four players securing direct invitations to the Mid-Set Finale.
The Freljord Cup, which was based on ladder ranking, saw participation from 128 players from North America from July 8 to 9. The competition was fierce and narrowed down to 32 finalists who competed over July 15 and 16. Bonus points made a comeback in the TFT Set Nine season, bringing veterans such as Milk, OPS Appies, setsuko, and TSM Souless back into the spotlight.
Players who topped the ladder joined the 32 players from the initial rounds of the TFT Set Nine Freljord Cup, taking the total contenders to 64 on the third day. Post six rounds of play, only 32 made it to the deciding day. Like the previous TFT season, day four showcased five rounds before deciding the top 16 players, leading to a top-eight duel in the eighth game. The top four performers in the NA Freljord Cup bagged a spot in the Runeterra Reforged Mid-Set Finale.

Entering the final day of the TFT Freljord Cup, players such as OPS Appies, Dishsoap, and Robinsongz gained bonus points for ending among the top eight at the day three’s conclusion.
