India’s rapidly advancing esports organization, Revenant Esports, pulled off an impressive performance during the Brawl Stars World Finals 2023’s first day. Hosted at the Elmia Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sweden, 12 global teams competed for the world champion title and a slice of the prize pool totaling over $750,000.
Revenant Esports, the lone Indian representative at this world-class event, aspires to seize the international trophy for India. The team moved a step closer to their objective following their commanding Day 1 performance that propelled them to the Playoffs.
The team is made up of Jerome “Response” Jiaen, Joshua “Prime” Lim, Prashank “Trashant” Malik and the 18-year-old Indian wunderkind, Ashmit “Sergeant Clash” Singh. This team did more than just qualify for the event; they made history by being the first Indian team ever to participate in the Brawl Stars World Finals, a globally recognized esports event.
Revenant Esports found themselves in Group A alongside North American powerhouses Luminosity Gaming and China’s BC Gaming. Following a 1-3 loss to Luminosity, the team recovered and triumphed over the Chinese teams, winning the nail-biting best-of-five series with a 3-2 score.
Sharing his thoughts on reaching the Playoffs stage, Sergeant Clash from Revenant Esports said, “As we entered the Group Stage of the Brawl Stars World Finals 2023, we were confident about advancing to the Playoffs. Despite our loss to Luminosity in the first match due to errors, we weren’t disheartened. We joined forces to identify and rectify them. Overcoming BC Gaming and progressing to the Playoffs is an extraordinary achievement. We’re taking it game by game and applaud the team for maintaining their composure in this high stakes competition.”
Moving forward, Revenant Esports is set to compete in the Quarterfinals of the Brawl Stars World Finals 2023. They’ll face the winner of Group C on Nov. 26, 2023, at 5:35 PM IST.
