On Wednesday (7 February), PUBG MOBILE disclosed that the 2024 PUBG Mobile esports season will begin with the 2024 PUBG MOBILE Global Open (PMGO) Brazil, to be conducted in São Paulo from March to April. Here, 16 teams will compete for their share of a US$500,000 prize pool.

The 2024 PMGO Brazil will have three significant stages: the open qualifiers happening from 4 to 30 March, the Prelims from 1 to 3 April, and the Main Event from 5 to 7 April.

The tournament’s US$500,000 prize pool will be allocated among the three stages. Participation rewards of US$84,000 and US$80,000 will be provided for open qualifiers and Prelims, respectively. In contrast, the main event furnishes a spectacular US$356,000.

All interested teams are invited for the open qualifiers, and 32 top-performing teams will be called to the Offline Qualifier Finals in Brazil from 28 to 30 March. The highest-scoring teams from these qualifiers will progress to the Prelims.

In the PMGO Prelims, qualifier teams and eight directly-invited Partnership Program teams will compete to join the eight teams advancing to the Main Event in São Paulo, where eight other directly-invited teams anticipate the face-off.

Six daily matches will be featured in the PMGO Main Event on popular maps like Erangel, Miramar, and Sanhok. The highest-scoring team will be crowned as the 2024 PMGO Brazil champion.

PUBG Mobile stated in a press release that Brazil was chosen as the host of this year’s PMGO due to its robust competitive scenario, dynamic esports culture, and Brazilian teams’ outstanding performance in the 2023 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship like Alpha7 Esports ranking third.

The 2024 PMGO Brazil aims to expand PUBG MOBILE’s 2024 esports calendar and emphasize the game’s “commitment to enriching the competitive landscape in the region with significant investment in Brazil’s esports scene”.

In addition to PMGO Brazil, the 2024 esports itinerary for PUBG MOBILE will also witness the return of the mid-season global tournament and the PUBG MOBILE Global Championship, along with an expanded partner program across different regions.

“We’re thrilled about the addition of the PMGO to our tournament lineup, which will foster the esports environment in Brazil and provide them with more opportunities to excel at a regional and global level. This is also our premier tournament that enables local players to qualify directly for a global main event,” expressed James Yang, Senior Director of PUBG MOBILE Global Esports.

“We’re eagerly anticipating some excellent play from local teams, and we hope to witness robust support from Brazil’s ardent players and fans!” Yang, Senior Director of PUBG MOBILE Global Esports, added.
