PH Paralympic Committee begins search for esports athletes for Para Games

SIBOL Mobile Legends: Bang Bang head coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro is in a race against time as he scours for players who will compose the Philippine national ML:BB team for the upcoming ASEAN Para Games.

Esports was included as a demo sport in this year’s ASEAN Para Games after the Cambodia ASEAN Para Games Organising Committee and digital and marketing agency Team Two signed a Memorandum of Understanding last December.

The Philippine Esports Organization is working hand in hand with the Philippine Paralympic Committee in the country’s upcoming campaign.

“This is a huge boost to the message that Esports is trying to send across, that it is inclusive and will cross boundaries sooner than later,” Duckey told Tiebreaker Times.

In a Facebook post, Duckey announced that he is looking for players that will represent the country in ML:BB’s debut in the ASEAN Para Games.

Interested applicants must meet one of the following criteria: wheelchair-bound, with walking disabilities, or amputees with assistive devices. Aside from these, players must have at least 2,000-3,000 Mythic points in the previous ML:BB season.

The games will be held from June 3 to 9 and the Philippine team is gearing up to showcase their skills in the highly-anticipated regional competition.

Indeed, this is an excellent opportunity for players to represent their country and demonstrate the inclusivity and diversity of the gaming community.

“I am inviting everyone who fits the qualifications for the upcoming ASEAN Para Games to come and join the training pool. The Khmer Kingdom awaits those who are looking for glory in the Land of Dawn.”
