This week’s panellists were asked to imagine how Vasyl Lomachenko would get on against two of America’s best young fighters
Ryan Walsh (Former British featherweight champion)
Vasyl would be my favourite. He has the best feet and movement in boxing. I’ve been lucky enough to witness him live. His lack of size and power against Haney and Davis would be neutralised by his boxing ability, brain and, ultimately, his experience. The guy has been fighting in world title bouts since his second pro fight. He’s a phenom.
Denzel Bentley (British middleweight champion)
Loma isn’t a natural lightweight so he may have trouble with Haney but Davis is a bit closer to his size. He just has to watch out for that power. In the end, though, I think both fighters are young, fresh and hungry and may get the victory over an ageing Loma.
Maxi Hughes (Former British lightweight champion)
Lomachenko is still a massive threat to all the top guys in the division. His skills are unbelievable and he’ll be back, like Oleksandr Usyk, with added fire because of the troubles Ukraine is facing.
Bradley Skeete (Former British welterweight champion)
I think Lomachenko would stand a good chance against both Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis at lightweight but I’d still pick both Haney and Davis to beat him. I think Loma is a class act, but he just seems to be at the back end of his career now.
