NBA playoff picture: Thunder clinch No. 1 seed in West; Suns, Pacers secure final bid in each conference

The regular season of the 2023-24 NBA has concluded, revealing the six playoff teams in each conference, along with the four teams competing in the play-in tournament for the last two seeds in the Eastern and Western Conferences.

In the East, the playoff teams are the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, and Indiana Pacers.

While in the West, the playoff contenders are the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, and Phoenix Suns.

The East play-in tournament will feature matchups between the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat, as well as the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks. In the West, the Los Angeles Lakers will play against the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Sacramento Kings will face the Golden State Warriors.

The play-in tournament is scheduled for Tuesday to Friday, and the first round of the NBA playoffs will kick off on Saturday.

Thunder secure the West No. 1 seed in a 3-way battle

The final day of the regular season determined the matchups, with the Oklahoma City Thunder grabbing the No. 1 seed in the West. This was achieved with a big victory over the Mavericks and a Timberwolves loss to the Suns. The Denver Nuggets secured the No. 2 seed by defeating the Memphis Grizzlies.

Phoenix moved up to the No. 6 seed in the West by beating Minnesota, while the Pelicans fell to the play-in tournament after a loss to the Lakers.

In the East, the Knicks claimed the No. 2 seed by defeating the Bulls in overtime, while the Bucks dropped to the No. 3 seed after losing to the Magic. The Pacers secured the No. 6 seed in the East by defeating the Hawks.
