DEONTAY WILDER’S trainer Malik Scott remained mysterious about ‘The Bronze Bomber’ making a return to the ring and the possibility of a showdown with Anthony Joshua.
Scott, who faced Wilder in a professional bout and suffered a first-round knockout in 2014, now stands in the corner of the Alabama heavyweight. He was in attendance at Wembley Stadium last night to witness Daniel Dubois knocking out Anthony Joshua.
While the Joshua vs. Wilder matchup has been subject to years of negotiations and speculation, the door may not be completely shut as Riyadh Season continues to host major events and offer lucrative paydays. This is despite Wilder’s recent losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, and Joshua’s uncertain future following his defeat to Dubois.
“Fighting is a passion for Deontay, something he is eager to pursue,” Scott shared with Boxing News.
“We are now in 2024, let’s wait and see what 2025 holds in store, especially in the first quarter, and then make decisions accordingly.”
When asked if a potential Joshua vs. Wilder bout could still materialize, Scott cryptically responded:
“Yes, anything is possible. You just never know.”
