Keep a close watch on these teams, as they are set to make a significant splash in the 2024 LEC season.
2024 LEC Teams to Monitor
Karmine Corp – The Arrival of the Blue Wall
The newest addition to the LEC, KCorp, has gained my attention for 2024. My interest is fueled not only by the curiosity of what KCorp will bring to the LEC in terms of fanfare but also in terms of competition. The team comprises intriguing names, but also several unknown factors that we are yet to find answers for. After a less than stellar 2023 season with Vitality, Upset and Bo must step up. The same applies for Cabochard, Saken, and Targamas, who need to prove their value to remain in the LEC.
I have faith in Yamatocannon’s ability to serve as a cornerstone for this team, and that raises my expectations for KCorp. It’s not realistic for them to be immediately competitive, but making it to the group stage will be a good start for the Blue Wall.
Team Heretics – A Former Powerhouse Seeking Redemption
I’m intrigued by the combination of the 2019 G2 reunion plus Flakked and Kaiser. Team Heretics has the potential to resume where they left off in 2023, and their lineup has the potential to do just that. I have some reservations about Perkz’s performance, but the team’s solidity and experience can compensate for any individual errors. Flakked demonstrated his capability last year, and I expect him to do so again, especially if engage supports return to meta which Kaiser is skilled at.
However, I believe the team needs to develop its identity further. For now, I see them mostly playing through their bot lane. The question remains if Jankos, Perkz, or even Wunder can step up to a carry role. That will be the determining factor for the success of TH’s 2024 team.
MAD Lions – The Iberian Test
MAD Lions have opted to retain Elyoya and have built a team predominantly consisting of Spanish players, bar mid laner Fresskowy. While I don’t have high expectations for this relatively inexperienced roster, the majority of Spanish players could be beneficial, particularly since the jungle and the bot lane have previously played together.
A challenge facing this MAD team is their heavy dependence on Elyoya. While I believe Elyoya can pull his weight, it remains to be seen whether the rest of the team can quickly step up to the plate.
Team Vitality – A New Strategy
Team Vitality garners my attention primarily because of their strategic shift. This lineup may not look immediately impressive, but instead of gathering superstar teams, the organization has chosen dedicated players eager to prove themselves, along with seasoned coaches Mac & Pad.
They seem to have taken a page out of MAD Lions’ book with their approach and should at least secure a top spot in the standings. Their success won’t be immediate but a solid foundation has been laid. The difference-makers for the team are likely to be Vetheo and Daglas; their performance will significantly influence the team.
