With the regular season nearing its end, the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) is almost ready to finalize the top six teams for the LCK Summer 2023 playoffs.
Reigning champions Gen.G set the pace by remaining undefeated in the first half, becoming the first team to qualify. KT Rolster closely follows, securing their playoff spot with a near-perfect match score.
Here’s everything you need to know about the LCK Summer 2023 playoffs, including its schedule, teams, results, and where to watch the matches live.
What is the LCK Summer 2023 playoffs?
The LCK Summer 2023 playoffs is the culminating tournament of the LCK Summer split, where teams will fight for the second LCK title of the year and Worlds 2023 qualification.
Format of the LCK Summer playoffs
Out of the 10 franchised esports organizations competing in the LCK Summer 2023 split, only the top six qualify for playoffs. Their placement determines which round they are seeded into.
The Summer 2023 playoffs adopts a new LCK playoffs format featuring a double-elimination bracket. The top two teams of the regular season will receive a bye to round 2 of the tournament.
The third seed chooses their opponent from the fifth and sixth seeds. The seed that was not picked will be the opponent of the fourth seed in round 1.
Round 2 has a similar setup, with the first seed choosing the opponents from R1 winners. The winners of round 2 advance to the winner’s final, while the losing teams drop to the lower bracket.
The upper bracket final will determine the first team to make it to the grand final. The losing team faces the winner of the first lower bracket match in the lower bracket final.
The winner of the lower bracket final then advances to the finals, where they’ll face the upper bracket final winner to contest the championship trophy.
The LCK Summer 2023 champion will automatically qualify for Worlds 2023, while the team in second place will receive 100 championship points. Should the latter also acquire the most championship points throughout the 2023 Season, they will also qualify for Worlds as the LCK’s second seed.
