After a dominant performance last Spring split, T1 returns to the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Spring playoffs stage this year with the same powerhouse roster consisting of Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, Mun “Oner” Hyeon, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok.
The question on everyone’s mind is whether they can successfully defend their championship title in the LCK Spring 2023 playoffs.
Standing in their way is Gen.G, who finally broke their second-place curse when they swept rivals T1 to win the LCK Summer 2022 championship.
Six teams and eight days of LoL action — who will come out on top?
Here’s everything you need to know about the LCK Spring 2023 playoffs, including its schedule, teams, results, and where to watch the matches live.
What is the LCK Spring 2023 playoffs?
The LCK Spring 2023 playoffs is the culminating tournament of the LCK Spring split, where teams will fight for the first LCK title of the year and MSI 2023 qualification.
Format of the LCK Spring playoffs
Out of the 10 franchised esports organizations competing in the LCK Spring 2023 split, only the top six qualify for playoffs. Their placement determines which round they are seeded into.
The Spring 2023 playoffs adopts a new LCK playoffs format featuring a double-elimination bracket. The top two teams of the regular season (Gen.G and T1) will receive a bye to round 2 of the tournament.
In round 1, the third seed, KT Rolster, chose Liiv SANDBOX as its opponent. The seed that was not picked, Hanwha Life Esports, will be the opponent of fourth seed, Dplus KIA, in the other round 1 match.
Round 2 has a similar setup, with the first seed, T1, choosing the opponents from R1 winners. The winners of round 2 advance to the winner’s final, while the losing teams drop to the lower bracket.
The upper bracket final will determine the first team to make it to the grand final. The losing team faces the winner of the first lower bracket match in the lower bracket final.
The winner of the lower bracket final then advances to the finals, where they’ll face the upper bracket final winner to contest the championship trophy.
The LCK Spring 2023 champion and second place team will represent the Korean region at the upcoming MSI 2023.
