POLAND’s Krzysztof Glowacki, a former WBO belt-holder at cruiserweight, has been banned from competing under a British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) licence for a total of four years after testing positive for boldenone, an anabolic steroid, following a defeat 12 months ago against Richard Riakporhe.
The test was carried out after the fight by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and its result now sees Glowacki, 32-4 (20) as a pro, as good as finished in the sport at the age of 37. That will likely come as no great loss to Glowacki, however, for the Walcz native made his mixed martial arts debut against Patryk Tołkaczewski on June 3 at XTB KSW 83: Colosseum 2. He won that particular bout via first-round knockout and will now, in light of his failed performance-enhancing drug test, presumably continue his combat career in a different discipline for the foreseeable.
As for his fight against Riakporhe, the result, which was a fourth-round stoppage win in the Londoner’s favour, will stand despite Glowacki’s transgression and subsequent ban.
