Katherine A. Gasper

Katherine A. Gasper, 73, formerly of 1904 Manchester Road, died Wednesday October 19, 2022, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.

An area resident all her life, she was born July 22, 1949, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Robert Thompson, Sr. and Virginia Wade Thompson Hanson.

She was a 1967 graduate of Jamestown High School and went on to earn degrees from Andrews School for Girls, Jamestown Business College, Jamestown Community College, and Empire State University of New York.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by AVI at Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant as a food service worker.

She was a member of Jamestown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

She was a good musician playing organ and flute, enjoyed quilting and was an accomplished Tole painter.

Surviving is her husband, John Gasper; a daughter Christine Barnes of Jamestown; two grandsons Zachery and Alexander Barnes; a sister Elizabeth (Anthony) Walters of Jekyll Island, GA; niece Ashley (Timothy) Cohen of Charleston, SC; great niece Poppy Cohen and great nephew Wyeth Cohen both of Charleston and nephews Adam (Kamu Kakizaki) Walters of New York City, Robert (Carissa) Massey of Lockport and David Massey of Buffalo.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her stepfather William Hanson; a daughter Catherine Peterson and a brother Robert Thompson, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home, where friends will be received from noon to 1 pm Sunday.
