Jaron “Boots” Ennis signs multi-fight promotional deal with Matchroom

IBF WELTERWEIGHT champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis has officially signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Matchroom. The 26-year-old fighter from Philadelphia last stepped into the ring in July 2023, securing a victory by knocking out Roiman Villa in the 10th round of their interim title fight in Atlantic City. Following this impressive win, the IBF promoted Ennis to full champion status after stripping Terence “Bud” Crawford of the belt. Crawford had become the undisputed welterweight champion, defeating his closest rival Errol Spence Jr. However, Crawford still holds the WBC, IBF, and WBA titles at the welterweight division.

Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Matchroom Boxing, has openly expressed his admiration for Ennis and reportedly engaged in discussions with the boxer’s representatives last year. Previously promoted by Cameron Dunkin and featured on Showtime during their partnership with Premier Boxing Champions, Ennis has now aligned with Matchroom as they prepare for his upcoming title defense scheduled for this summer.

Ennis shared his excitement for the collaboration, stating, “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Eddie Hearn, Matchroom, and DAZN. I am eager to continue my journey towards becoming an undisputed world champion. After a year out of the ring, I am looking forward to returning and showcasing my skills to the fans. There are exciting fights on the horizon, and I am ready to deliver captivating performances.”

Hearn also expressed his enthusiasm for the addition of Ennis to the Matchroom Boxing roster, praising the fighter’s potential and positioning in the welterweight division. He stated, “Jaron has all the qualities to become a prominent figure in the sport, both globally and in his hometown of Philadelphia. We are dedicated to supporting his growth and ensuring he secures the biggest fights that will elevate his status in the pound-for-pound rankings.”
