“It’s a fight that makes sense for both of us” – Joshua Buatsi makes it clear he wants to face Anthony Yarde

There is increasing speculation that a fight between unbeaten light-heavyweight Joshua Buatsi and rival Anthony Yarde is a real possibility after Buatsi’s appearance at the Copper Box last night.

Buatsi watched Yarde defeat Marko Nikolic in three rounds, showcasing his dominance once again. This performance has set the stage for a potential matchup between the two fighters as they both look for meaningful opponents following their recent victories.

With Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev set to fight for all four world belts, Buatsi and Yarde may face each other in the meantime. Buatsi mentioned the possibility of fighting Yarde in a post-fight press conference after defeating Dan Azeez on February 3.

During Yarde’s post-fight interview with TNT Sports, Buatsi was brought in to comment on a potential fight between the two men. Additionally, Boxing News caught up with Buatsi and asked for an update on negotiations for the fight.

“There’s talks but a lot of fighters have spoken, and they’ve never fought so I’m hoping it’s not gonna be [another] one. It’s a fight that the public have waited for a very long time and a fight that makes sense next for the both of us,” Buatsi said.

He also mentioned that an official announcement for the fight is yet to be made, but he hopes the fight can take place in May, June, or July.

When asked if he had a message for his rival, Buatsi said: “Let’s get it cracking bro. It’s simple. The message is simple. This is the fight I want next.”
