Meher, Sneha share lead with amateur Mannat in 11th leg of WPGT

Meher, Sneha, and amateur Mannat Brar are tied for the lead in the first round of the 11th leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour. Seher Atwal, who just came from playing in the Singapore Ladies Masters, struggled in the beginning but managed to birdie on the 15th and 18th holes to finish the round with a two-over 69. Sneha Singh also had a tough start but had two birdies to finish the round with a two-over 69. Amateur Mannat Brar shot a 69 as well, with a bogey-birdie-bogey start. Tvesa Malik had three birdies in a row but finished with a three-over 70. Gaurika Bishnoi, making a comeback after missing the last two legs, finished with a four-over 71.

BOXING

12 SSCB boxers advance to quarterfinals at Junior Boys National Boxing Championships

12 boxers from the services sports control board (SSCB) have advanced to the quarterfinals on the third day of the 5th Junior Boys National Boxing Championships in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. Aakash Badhwar, Prashant, and Jasandeep from SSCB won their matches convincingly. The SSCB boxers won six matches by referee stopping the contest (RSC) decision.

CYCLING

Chennai to host HCL Cyclothon on October 8

HCL and the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) have announced the Chennai leg of the HCL Cyclothon, a cycle racing event. The event, to be held on October 8, will have races in three categories – professional, amateur, and general public. The registration is open until September 20. The race course will start from Mayajaal Multiplex, go through East Coast Road (ECR), and end at Kovalam. The event is expected to have more than 5000 participants.

Ganemat Sekhon narrowly misses final in shotgun World Cup

Ganemat Sekhon missed the final by a single point after shooting 120 in the women’s skeet event at the shotgun World Cup in Lonato, Italy. She finished ninth overall. Maheshwari Chauhan and Darshna Rathore finished 36th and 65th respectively. In men’s skeet, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Gurjoat Khangura, and Mairaj Ahmad Khan finished 55th, 82nd, and 116th respectively.

TENNIS

Rithvik Choudhary and Arjun Kadhe reach doubles quarterfinals

Rithvik Choudary and Arjun Kadhe won their doubles pre-quarterfinals match at the Challenger tennis tournament in Braunschweig, Germany. Sriram Balaji and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, however, were beaten in the doubles pre-quarterfinals of the Challenger in Iasi, Romania.

BADMINTON

Indian Shuttlers shine at Badminton Asia Junior Championships

Indian players had a successful round of 64 at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Six singles players and one doubles pair won their matches and advanced to the round of 32.
