G2 Esports Pranks Fans with Caps Farewell Video
G2 Esports disclosed its starting lineup for the LEC 2024 through a social media post, in which Caps personally addressed his fans. Many fans, initially taken aback, believed that Caps was departing from the team.
Caps remarked in the video, “It’s been an incredible journey; I just want to express my immense gratitude for it. I know this isn’t an easy thing for me to say, at least it doesn’t feel easy.. But… I just need to say it. I’m leaving. I’m leaving Berlin. I’m going abroad, carrying my skills elsewhere.“
But at the end of the video, after a suggestion from team manager Romain Bigeard, Caps clarified, “I’m going home for the holidays. The split is over. So is Worlds. And we’re heading back for the Winter Split. So, see you then!“
The end card of the same video noted that it would return with the same roster for the LEC 2024. The members of G2 Esports are as follows:

The 2023 Worlds proved challenging for G2 Esports. It started its journey on the right foot by securing victories against Dplus KIA and Weibo Gaming. However, the team experienced a slump, losing two consecutive games to Gen.G and NRG Esports. This string of defeats seemed to have shattered the team’s momentum, and as a result, the team was eliminated early from the tournament after a loss to BiliBili Gaming.
