Dean Morgan Middle School receives $25,000 grant for esports after-school program

Dean Morgan Middle School in Casper, Wyoming, is stepping into the eSports world thanks to a sizeable grant. A statement to the Natrona County School District Board of Trustees reveals Lisa Shadrick, a career-oriented education teacher at the school, secured a $25,000 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Cutting Edge Grant from the Wyoming Department of Education.

With the grant money, an extracurricular eSports program will be established, possibly including a competitive team if given approval by the School Board during their meeting on October 9th.

Shadrick expressed that this entertaining approach is meant to connect students with a possible STEM-related career path and prepare them for the workplace through gaming.

The program is expected to yield multiple benefits under the joint supervision of Shadrick and the school head, Clay Cates. Among these predicted advantages are amplified student attendance, improved academic performance, and enhanced student engagement.
