Bears receive No. 4 seed for D-I state volleyball | News, Sports, Jobs

The Baldwin High School girls volleyball team received the No. 4 seed for next week’s New City Nissan/HHSAA Girls Volleyball Division I State Championship on Oahu.

The brackets for the Division I and Division II state tournaments were released late Wednesday night.

The Bears (13-1), champions of the Maui Interscholastic League, will play in a 7 p.m. quarterfinal on Wednesday at Moanalua against the winner of Monday’s match between Waiakea and Kapolei.

MIL runner-up Kamehameha Maui (11-3) will host Roosevelt on Monday at 4 p.m. at Kaulaheanuiokamoku Gym. The winner advances to a 5:30 p.m. quarterfinal against No. 2 seed Kamehameha Hawaii at McKinley on Wednesday.

Kamehameha Kapalama is the top seed, and Mililani is the No. 3 seed.

Semifinals are set for Thursday at Moanalua, with the final day of competition on Friday at the Cannon Activities Center on the BYU-Hawaii campus in Laie.

In D-II, MIL champion Seabury Hall (14-0) received the No. 3 seed and will take on either University Lab or Konawaena in a quarterfinal Wednesday at Kaimuki at 7 p.m.

MIL runner-up Maui Prep (11-3) makes its state tournament debut with a first-round match against Waipahu at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Kalani. The winner advances to face top-seeded Mid-Pacific.

Other seeded teams are No. 2 Waialua, No. 4 Hawaii Prep and No. 5 Kapaa.

D-II semifinals are Thursday night at Kalani, and placement matches are Friday at BYUH.
