Barton College in Wilson is demonstrating its commitment towards multiplayer gaming innovation by investing in an on-campus esports facility. They’ve announced an esports scholarship for one of the top contestants in an online tournament for “Street Fighter 6” on PS5, organized by Wake Forest.
The tournament, hosted by the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department, is open for participants aged 13 and above and will be streamed live on Twitch.tv. Registrations are ongoing till November 15 through the department’s website.
The tournament employs a one-on-one, single-day, double-elimination system, with matches being best out of three. Should there be more than 32 players, it will extend to a two-day affair; qualifying rounds on November 18 and the finals with the top eight contenders on November 19.
The first 30 participants will have their names included in a separate prize draw. Only those participating in the tournament are eligible. The tournament’s winner can choose from two unique “Street Fighter” PS5 controllers, the other controller will be the prize drawing reward.
The excitement surrounding this tournament lies in the diverse array of prizes for the top three players, including a scholarship from Barton College Esports. This recognizes not only the talent and dedication but also the increasing stature of esports in the competitive landscape.
