Anthony Joshua’s showdown with Daniel Dubois on September 21 has the potential to break the British boxing attendance record, as the request to increase the capacity at Wembley Stadium has been approved.
The current record holder is the April 2021 fight between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte, where 94,000 spectators filled Wembley.
The upcoming Riyadh Season event headlined by Joshua and Dubois has already sold out its initial 90,000 tickets.
Turki Al-Alshikh confirmed the approval of an additional 6,000 tickets, potentially setting a new record of 96,000 attendees.
These extra tickets will be available for purchase starting at midday on Friday, as announced by Al-Alshikh.
The main event will mark Dubois’ first defense of his IBF title, securing it after defeating Filip Hrgovic for the interim belt in Saudi Arabia.
Dubois’ opponent, Joshua, a two-time heavyweight champion, is familiar with fighting at Wembley Stadium, having taken on notable opponents like Alexander Povetkin and Wladimir Klitschko.
Joshua, with a record of 28-3 and 25 knockouts, is on a winning streak since his last loss in August 2022.
Dubois, on the other hand, with a record of 21-2, has been in top form with recent wins over Jarrell Miller and Hrgovic since his defeat to Usyk in August 2023.
