Adam Azim-Ohara Davies set for October 19 in London

ADAM AZIM will face a tough test of his skills on October 19 when he goes up against the experienced Ohara Davies.

These two super-lightweights will headline a Boxxer event at the Copper Box in London. Azim will aim to maintain his undefeated record while Davies will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance in his last fight.

In January, Davies suffered a first-round defeat to Ismael Barroso, following which he had a tough debut under new promoters Golden Boy in Las Vegas. He missed out on a world title shot in 2023 due to a Romero injury and the loss to Barroso was a blow to his career.

With only 11 fights under his belt, Azim claimed the European 140lb title in his 10th bout against Franck Petitjean. He successfully defended his title against Enock Poulsen in February and is now set to face the hard-hitting Davies in a step up in competition.

Despite being mandated to defend his title against Dalton Smith, Azim chose to vacate the title instead of facing Smith in a rematch.

There was speculation about a potential fight between Azim and Harlem Eubank after a face-off between them in March. However, the fight remains off the table for now.

“I’m eager to return to the ring and showcase my skills,” said Azim.

“I have the utmost respect for Ohara Davies and his achievements in the sport. When we step into the ring, he will be just another opponent on my journey to the top. While I anticipate an exciting fight due to our contrasting styles, I am confident in my abilities and ready to prove myself against the best in the division.”

“I am looking forward to this fight,” said Davies.

“I have known Adam Azim for a long time and have watched his progress in boxing. I respect him as a fighter, but I am determined to hand him his first defeat. There is no animosity between us, and my goal is for both of us to leave the ring healthy and happy. But for Azim, this is where his unbeaten streak comes to an end. Sorry, Adam, but it’s time for a change.”
