51-0: The 10 best wins on the records of Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia

1 Davis vs Leo Santa Cruz

Not only Davis’ best win to date, but this also happens to be his best knockout, with the left uppercut he used to render Santa Cruz unconscious in the sixth round a punch felt all over America back in October 2020.

2 Davis vs Jose Pedraza

The first big win of Davis’ career, Pedraza was 22-0 at the time of their bout in 2017 and many expected him to give Davis a stern test. That, however, was not the case, with Davis dominant from the outset and Pedraza, the IBF super-featherweight champion, eventually stopped in round seven.

3 Davis vs Isaac Cruz

For now, Cruz is the only man to have lasted the 12-round distance with Davis and the Mexican gave him a very good battle along the way, too. He may have lost a close fight in 2021 but his performance against Davis was for sure better than most.

4 Davis vs Yuriorkis Gamboa

In a fight littered with knockdowns, Davis dropped Gamboa in rounds two, eight and 12 before finally putting him out of his misery at the 1:17 mark in the final round. In winning that 2019 fight, “Tank” became WBA champion at lightweight.

5 Garcia vs Luke Campbell

Considered his toughest test at the time, and a fight he could potentially lose, Garcia impressively recovered from a second-round knockdown against Campbell in 2020 to rally back and stop the skilful Brit in round seven.

6 Davis vs Mario Barrios

Barrios, unbeaten in 26 fights, met Davis in 2021 with the WBA super-lightweight title at stake. Yet, despite some good form going in, he was unable to do much about Davis’ aggression and was in the end stopped in round 11.

7 Davis vs Hector Luis Garcia

Last time out, in January, Davis defended his WBA lightweight title against Garcia, a southpaw from the Dominican Republic, and had little difficulty extinguishing his challenge. Stopped in nine, Garcia struggled winning rounds up to that point.

8 Garcia vs Javier Fortuna

In his last fight, in July 2022, Garcia ran through his array of punches to score a flurry of knockdowns against the Dominican Republic’s Fortuna in Los Angeles. He finally closed the show in round six.

9 Davis vs Liam Walsh

So far Davis’ only trip to the UK, this third-round stoppage of Liam Walsh, an underrated technician in good form, served to highlight the American’s vicious finishing instincts when he sees an opponent hurt.

10 Garcia vs Emmanuel Tagoe

The only man to have taken Garcia the 12-round distance, Ghana’s Tagoe found himself dropped in round two yet recovered well to push “King Ry” all the way, albeit winning none of the rounds they shared.
