UPDATE: National Road Reopened Following Crash | News, Sports, Jobs

National Road has been reopened following the tractor-trailer crash.

Original story

National Road in Triadelphia is closed in both directions after a tractor-trailer crashed into a house, according to Wheeling-Ohio County EMA Director Lou Vargo.

Vargo said that, around 3 p.m., a gas truck from Illinois was leaving a gas well, though its tank was empty. The driver told authorities that he experienced a mechanical issue and lost control of the vehicle, which hit two cars, then the house.

A family of two adults and four children was in the house at the time, but Vargo said none of them were hurt and all were able to safely exit the house. American Red Cross is assisting the family. No hazardous materials were involved in the crash.

The driver was taken to WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Vargo said. Crews were about to remove the tractor trailer at around 4:30 p.m., but Vargo didn’t know how long it would take until National Road is reopened.
