Tim Tszyu can be even better than his father, says Australian boxing legend

AUSTRALIAN boxing legend Jeff Fenech believes that Tim Tszyu has the potential to surpass his father as a fighter.

Kostya Tszyu, also known as ‘The Thunder from Down Under,’ is widely regarded as one of the greatest super-lightweights in history. With thirty-one wins from thirty-three fights, including his impressive two-round victory over Zab Judah in 2001, the Russian-born boxer was a formidable opponent known for his knockout power.

Tim Tszyu, who has worked hard to establish his own identity instead of being solely known as ‘Kostya’s son,’ is now approaching the biggest fight of his career against super-welterweight champion Jermell Charlo. However, Tszyu must first defeat Carlos Ocampo in Queensland this weekend.

Fenech expressed his opinion to News Corp, stating, “Kostya was a great boxer, but aside from his knockout power, I believe Tim possesses all the qualities of his father and more.

“Tim continues to improve and, in my opinion, he is the complete package.

“Claiming that Tim can be better than Kostya is a significant statement, but he will certainly establish his own legacy, independent of being Kostya’s son.”

Despite a tumultuous lead-up to his 23rd fight, which included a dog attack requiring surgery and a car break-in at his home, Tszyu remains undefeated.

“That has to be the dumbest criminal in Sydney,” stated Tszyu’s manager, Glen Jennings.

“Who breaks into Tim Tszyu’s house, steals from his Mercedes, and thinks they can get away with it?”

This weekend’s victory is expected to be Tszyu’s last before facing Charlo in the United States. The World Boxing Organization has ordered the champion to defend his title against the Australian challenger by September 30.

“Ocampo is a dangerous fighter, making him the perfect preparation for the Charlo fight,” Fenech explained.

“Tim’s strength lies in his Mexican fighting style, as he throws more punches than anyone else, and that’s why he will win this fight.”
