The final round of fixtures in Nations League Group B4 take place on Tuesday. There will be an important fixture at the bottom end of the group, as both Sweden and Slovenia will be looking for the points that they need to secure their position in the second-tier.
Nations League Preview
It has been yet another disappointing campaign in the Nations League for Sweden, and they come into this final fixture starring down the barrel of relegation to Group C. Sweden has lost four of the five games that they have played in the competition this season, while they have picked up just a single victory.
The Swedes have scored just six goals in the Nations League, and have conceded a group-high of ten goals. However, victory in their final fixture would save their blushes, as they could move ahead of Slovenia. But, they will need to bounce back to form, as they were hammered 4-1 in their latest fixture against Serbia. Viktor Claesson opened the scoring in that fixture for Sweden, but Serbia struck back and scored four goals to earn a deserved big victory.
Slovenia come into the fixture knowing that a point will be good enough to ensure their position in Group B for the next round of Nations League matches in a few years time. They have won just once in the five games that they have played, but they have also suffered just two defeats. Slovenia will need to be more defensively solid in this fixture, as they have already conceded nine goals in the competition.
However, they should be extremely confident coming into this final group game, as they beat Norway 2-1 on Saturday. Benjamin Sesko scored the winning goal in that fixture with nine minutes remaining on the clock.
Sweden vs Slovenia Head to Head
These two nations have met on three previous occasions. Slovenia are yet to record a victory against the Swedes, with the hosts having won two of the previous three matches between the nations. That includes a 2-0 victory in the previous match between the sides in the Nations League.
Sweden vs Slovenia Prediction
Sweden has a very strong record against Slovenia, but we like the chances of the away side in this fixture. They come into the match in better form, while the Swedes will be missing a number of key players through injury.
