Shakur Stevenson reckons Tank fight is biggest in boxing

SHAKUR Stevenson insists that a showdown with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is inevitable, revealing that his team has reached out to Tank’s camp with an offer. Despite not receiving a response yet, Shakur remains confident that the fight will come to fruition.

“Like I said, that fight is going to happen. I’m not going to act like the fight is not going to happen,” he told Boxing News.

“Me and him are the best, we’re the best fighters coming up. Best fighters in the 135-pound division. There’s no way this fight won’t happen. Fans may speculate and accuse one of ducking, but I’m not afraid to fight him, and he’s not afraid to fight me. It will be an incredible fight when it does happen.”

A potential November 23 date has been mentioned, but Stevenson believes the turnaround is feasible for a fight of this magnitude.

“If terms can be agreed upon and it makes sense for both of us business-wise, the fight could definitely happen,” he stated, while praising Gervonta’s performance against Frank Martin in June.

“I won’t reveal my strategy, but I thought Tank looked impressive against Frank Martin. It was a level above for Frank and he couldn’t keep up,” Stevenson added with a smile.

Among all potential megafights in boxing, Shakur Stevenson considers a clash with Gervonta Davis as the biggest.

“That’s the biggest fight in boxing. Skill for skill, I don’t see any fight bigger than me and Tank. Maybe Bud and Canelo is up there, but in terms of boxing fans and enthusiasts, that’s the fight to watch. It’s the ultimate showdown,” Stevenson emphasized.
