Rival manager Mikel Arteta praised Ange Postecoglou for instilling “spirit” in a well-coached Tottenham team after they drew 2-2 with Arsenal. Despite allowing Tottenham to equalize twice, Arteta was impressed with their performance under Postecoglou. Tottenham remains undefeated in the Premier League this season with four wins and two draws.
“I think they’re a really good side,” Arteta said. “They’re really well-coached. You can feel the spirit within the team, (and) the energy within them.”
However, Arteta believes it is too early to speculate on how far Postecoglou can take Spurs in his first season as the club’s manager. He also expressed his admiration for Postecoglou, saying that players who have worked with him speak highly of him.
Postecoglou described Tottenham’s performance against Arsenal as “outstanding,” especially considering they were playing against a top team at a difficult venue. He praised his team’s strong work ethic, character, and defensive performance. Postecoglou also highlighted their outstanding football and quality in the attacking third.
Regarding the handball ruling against Cristian Romero, Postecoglou expressed confusion and a desire for clarity on what constitutes a handball offense.
