4:40PM – BOMBERS OFFICIALLY SIGN RUCKMAN
Todd Goldstein has officially signed with the Essendon Bombers as an unrestricted free agent. The long-time North Melbourne star and former All-Australian has agreed to a one-year deal after 315 games and 17 years at Arden Street.

4:25PM – DUURSMA REQUESTS TRADE TO DON
Port Adelaide winger Xavier Duursma has reportedly requested a trade to Essendon. It was reported on Monday afternoon that the 23-year-old had expressed his desire to move to the Bombers, the club where he completed a medical ahead of the trade period. Duursma was drafted with pick No.18 in 2018 but has struggled to cement his spot in the side recently. Port Adelaide is looking to acquire Brandon Zerk-Thatcher from Essendon in the trade. Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro mentioned that there might be other players involved in the trade negotiations.

3:50PM – PIES LINKED TO FREO FORWARD
Fremantle forward Lachie Schultz has reportedly requested a trade to Collingwood. The small forward triggered an extension in his contract during the season but has informed the Dockers that he wants to join the premiership-winning team. Schultz has kicked 101 goals in 90 games for Fremantle, playing 23 games in each of the past two seasons. Analyst Kane Cornes tweeted, “He’s such a good player – a huge get. Freo sure know how to lose them.” Schultz was drafted with pick No.57 in the 2018 draft.

1.45PM – DOGS ACQUIRE PRIZED PICK
The Western Bulldogs have secured one of this year’s most coveted draft selections after striking a deal with the Gold Coast Suns. The Bulldogs have acquired Pick 4, Pick 46, Pick 51, and Gold Coast’s future third-round pick, while the Suns have received Pick 10, Pick 17, and the Bulldogs’ future first-round pick. This move allows the Suns to gather more points to match bids on their academy stars, Jed Walter, Ethan Read, and Jake Rogers. The Bulldogs are now in a strong position for the draft and are expected to consider players like Nick Watson, Colby McKercher, and Riley Sanders with their top pick.

1.10PM – FIRST TRADE COMPLETED
The first official trade of the off-season has been completed. Fremantle has received Port Adelaide’s future first-round selection in exchange for Pick 23 (compensation tied to North Melbourne) and Port Adelaide’s future second-round selection. This trade gives Port Adelaide more assets to work with for this year’s trade period as they pursue Esava Ratugolea, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Jordon Sweet, and possibly Ivan Soldo. Reports suggest that Fremantle will use Pick 23 to negotiate with Geelong for Esava Ratugolea.

11.45AM – DONS LODGE McKAY PAPERWORK
North Melbourne has stated that they will match Essendon’s free agency offer for Ben McKay if it only results in an end-of-first-round compensation pick. Essendon has submitted the paperwork for McKay, offering him a six-year deal. However, if the compensation pick for McKay is only an end-of-first-rounder, North Melbourne has confirmed that they will match the offer and not accept such compensation for a key defender of McKay’s caliber.

11.15AM – LIONS SECURE FREE AGENT
Brisbane has acquired Tom Doedee from the Adelaide Crows as a restricted free agent. The Lions have made a four-year deal offer to Doedee, which the Crows chose not to match. Adelaide receives an end-of-first-round draft pick as compensation. Doedee, who played 82 games for Adelaide, suffered an ACL rupture in Round 12 of the 2023 season. Lions list boss Dom Ambrogio expressed his excitement about signing Doedee, believing that he will be a valuable addition to their backline and help strengthen their team.
