MINERAL RIDGE — Margarett H. Hegel, 92, passed away peacefully at 11:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at Canfield Health Care Center, Cornersburg, following a long illness.
Margarett was born in Youngstown, on March 4, 1930, the daughter of Adam and Emma Evans Johnson, and lived in Mineral Ridge most of her life. She was known by family and friends as Peg.
Peg retired in 1999 from the Fairhaven School System, where she was a bus driver for over 34 years. She was a member of Mineral Ridge Church of Christ.
Margarett is survived by a son, John A. Hegel of Mineral Ridge; daughter, Joy A. Hegel; granddaughter, Victoria “Tori” (Mark) Dailey; and two great-grandsons, Justin and Brian, all of Mineral Ridge.
Margarett was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Hegel, whom she married Aug. 4, 1948, and who died Jan. 7, 2002; daughter, Jill A. Hegel, who died Dec. 1, 2018; two brothers, Adam “Butch” Johnson and James Johnson; and sister, Marilyn Love.
A private burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
