Man Utd and Erik ten Hag cannot go on like this forever while Chelsea reach new low – Premier League hits and misses | Football News

Man Utd can’t go on like this

It’s tough to say where to start with a performance like that. The apparent lack of hunger or the system allowing a team fighting relegation to have 31 shots is troublesome.

Erik ten Hag rightly addressed the intensity mismatch, stating Brentford showed more “passion, desire, and determination”. Despite producing jaw-dropping statistics, his stubbornness about the system leaving midfield holes remains:

  • Man Utd have allowed 106 shots in their four March games.
  • They have conceded 20+ shots in six of their last seven league games.
  • Brentford are the first team with 80+ touches in the opponents’ box this season.

Ten Hag is not concerned: “As long as we get results, no,” he said. “We concede shots, but not many goals,” he added. United has won three of their last six games, conceding eight goals.

On paper, Ten Hag has a point, but the manner of their wins and even losses is being ignored.

United were constantly stretched in games against Aston Villa and Luton, barely scraping 2-1 wins. The losses to Man City and Fulham were alarming, and the draw against Brentford was kind, to say the least.

Ten Hag and Man Utd cannot continue like this forever. Change is necessary.

Moyes allowed Newcastle comeback to happen

David Moyes was astonished by the turn of events he witnessed.

After 53 minutes, West Ham seemed comfortable enough that their fans started chanting “oles” with a 3-1 lead.

The lead was well-deserved, with Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta, and Jarrod Bowen impressing.

When the momentum shifted, Moyes reverted to his old habit of sitting on a lead instead of exploiting West Ham’s attacking advantage against the struggling Newcastle defense.

The blame lies with the manager. While Newcastle played with intensity, they were allowed to do so by a retreating Hammers side that collapsed without a fight.

Super-sub Johnson the hero in Spurs’ comeback win

Heung-Min Son may get the glory for his late winner, but Brennan Johnson’s impact from the bench was crucial in Tottenham’s comeback victory.

After a disappointing international break, Johnson made a significant impact as a substitute, turning the game around against relegation-threatened Luton.

His performance earned praise from Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, who acknowledged his contribution in setting up two crucial goals.

Chelsea sink to a new low

Mauricio Pochettino was disappointed by his side’s lack of hunger in a damaging draw with Burnley, where they played over half the game with a man advantage.

Despite their attacking prowess, Chelsea’s lack of backbone was evident, allowing a 10-man Burnley to snatch a point. The frustration was palpable at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer’s brilliance aside, Chelsea’s overall performance was amateurish, highlighting their inconsistency and lack of potential.

Muniz transformation has taken everyone by surprise

Rodrigo Muniz scores a spectacular equaliser for Fulham at Bramall Lane

Spare a thought for Armando Broja. After an underwhelming first half of the season, the Chelsea striker joined Fulham on loan in January in search of form and fitness.
The pathway seemed clear, with Fulham’s strikers having a combined total of just five Premier League goals before Broja’s arrival – all scored by Raul Jimenez.
But Broja can’t have envisioned Rodrigo Muniz’s remarkable transformation. Before the Albania international moved to Craven Cottage, Muniz had never scored a Premier League goal.Joe Shread

Has Southgate been watching Solanke closely enough?

I feel for Dominic Solanke. Despite his exceptional club form this season, he was overlooked for England’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, raising questions about Southgate’s selection criteria.
