The Giants defeated the Brewers 3-1, with Mitch Haniger hitting the go-ahead two-run homer, and the Mariners blanked the Pirates 5-0, with Luis Castillo striking out 10 in six innings. In other games, the Dodgers beat the Rays 6-5, and the Astros handed the Oakland Athletics their 10th consecutive defeat with a 6-3 win.
