JON Fernandez is ready to travel for the European title fight, taking inspiration from Spanish legend ‘La Sensacion’ Kiko Martinez.
Matchroom Boxing secured the fight between Jon and Dalton Smith for the vacant European title, with a September date expected soon. Fernandez is likened to Martinez as a dangerous puncher.
“I’m not afraid to go to Sheffield or abroad for the fight. We’ve seen Kiko Martinez win against [Kid] Galahad, so I’m up for the challenge,” Fernandez told Boxing News.
Dalton Smith’s impressive win over Jose Zepeda sets the stage for a tough battle. Fernandez acknowledges Smith’s skills but sees it as a good test for both fighters.
