UNDATED (AP) — The support staffs keep getting bigger in the Atlantic Coast Conference and throughout college football. In recent years, schools have hired more staffers working in roles such as analyst, quality-control coordinator or special assistant. The list includes No. 5 Clemson spending about $1.48 million in salaries for 13 staffers that include player-development roles. By comparison, there were only four staffers in those roles in 2015. New coaches at Duke, Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech also have support staffs that are bigger than last year.

UNDATED (AP) — The much-anticipated matchup between Texas A&M and Alabama is coming up this weekend after an offseason feud between the team’s championship-winning coaches. But AP College Football Writer Ralph Russo says that is not nearly as interesting as the game in Lawrence, Kansas. That’s where the unbeaten and 19th-ranked Jayhawks face No. 17 TCU and its high-powered offense. There is also another top-20 matchup of potential Pac-12 contenders in Utah and UCLA in Los Angeles.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson defensive backs Malcolm Greene and Fred Davis II were sued by a U.S. postal worker whose delivery truck was struck by Davis last year seconds after he was clocked driving 115 mph on a highway near campus. The suit by Karen Alvarez alleged that both players were seen driving at high speed on a 55 mph road, switching lanes and appearing to race each other. Davis hit the back of the truck on July 2021. Alvarez’s suit alleges she’s had significant injures and is seeking unspecified damages.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei had a stellar start to the season and may have quieted doubters who wanted someone else behind center when the year began. Uiagalelei is among the Atlantic Coast Conference’s top passers and already has more touchdown throws this season than all of last year. Uiagalelei had never lost belief in himself despite a subpar season in 2021 when the Tigers’ streak of six straight ACC titles and College Football Playoff trips ended. An improved Uiagalelei has the fifth-ranked Tigers at 5-0 and in control of the ACC’s Atlantic Division.
