Georginio Wijnaldum ‘agrees terms’ with Barcelona over transfer from Liverpool

According to reports, Georginio Wijnaldum has agreed a three-year deal with La Liga side Barcelona. Wijnaldum is excited to join his Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman, who has been appointed as the new manager of the Spanish club.

Despite being a key player for Liverpool, the Netherlands midfielder is willing to make the switch to Spain. Reports suggest that discussions between the two clubs have already begun. Barcelona is prepared to offer a maximum of £18 million for Wijnaldum, who is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool and has not shown any interest in extending it.

Wijnaldum has been an important player for Liverpool, missing only one game in the Premier League season. He played a crucial role in their victories in the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Champions League, where he scored two goals against Barcelona in the semifinal. Wijnaldum’s move to Barcelona will boost Thiago Alcantara’s potential signing from Bayern Munich, as Liverpool has been interested in him as well.

Meanwhile, Barcelona has already completed the signing of Miralem Pjanic, but they are not satisfied with their current signings as Ivan Rakitic and Arthur have left the club for Sevilla and Juventus respectively. Arturo Vidal is also expected to leave the club.

Barcelona’s new coach, Koeman, will be happy to welcome Wijnaldum, as he knows his style of play from their time together in the Netherlands national team.
