Paper Rex recently released an announcement video on its Twitter handle, revealing that Andi Andana “Sleepy” Bangsawan, former Valorant coach of Velocity Gaming, has joined the organization as the Head of Esports Programming. The announcement video also revealed that Sleepy would be responsible for the organization’s content division. Paper Rex recently earned itself a franchise slot in the Valorant International League, and with the addition of Sleepy, the organization will look forward to achieving new heights.
Sleepy joins Paper Rex as Head of Esports Programming
Prior to joining Paper Rex, Sleepy was the Consultant Coach for the Valorant line-up of Velocity Gaming, joining the Indian organization in May 2022. However, after the organization failed to secure a franchise slot in the Valorant International League, it dropped Sleepy as its coach just two months after signing him. Sleepy was also a part of another Southeast Asian organization, Alter Ego, for almost a year. Under his guidance, the team performed impressively in the domestic circuit, winning the VCT 2021: Indonesia Stage 3 Challengers 2, Valorant Adrenalin Invitational – Season 5, and TEC Challenger Series 6 during his tenure.
Sleepy has also worked as a caster multiple times in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) in the last couple of years, where he was on the official panel as an English Commentator and Bahasa Indonesia Analyst.
After joining Paper Rex, Sleepy stated that he was not joining the team in a coaching capacity. “I am joining as the Head of Esports Programming, and I will help with Paper Rex’s content in 2023 and onwards. I hope you guys enjoy everything that we are going to make and produce and host over the next year! I am looking forward to catching up with you guys as a Paper Rex member,” he added.
Paper Rex has established itself as one of the finest Valorant teams in the Southeast Asian region by qualifying for three Valorant Masters and one Valorant Champions. In September, the organization became one of the ten partnered teams in the VCT Pacific League.
The team will be spotted competing at the Valorant India Invitational by Galaxy Racer, that is set to take place in MGR Arena, Hyderabad, India, in LAN setting from 18th to 20th November.
